        Studies

The study is a room of one’s own, which should be filled corner to corner with timeless furniture and characterful home office decoration, allowing you to accomplish tasks in comfort and style. Here are a few study design ideas, including a sleek modern study complete with a mirrored desk and cool metal task lighting for reading and correspondence. If you’d prefer a rustic scheme, country-style study decoration involves lots of hand-made wooden furniture and bookshelves crammed full of your favourite reads.

The green and natural tones echoed throughout the look extend to this compact workspace. The classic oak desk has compartments to store stationery and shelves for displaying task lighting and accessories. Framed pictures and home offices go hand-in-hand but this area proves that there's no reason not to scale them up: larger artworks create greater impact and a view in the absence of a window.

Annabel took the view that you’re much more likely to accomplish tasks in a study that’s beautiful. She combined faux shagreen, leather and faux tortoiseshell finishes to create a room that is as elegant as it is practical. The result is an ideal reading spot: the Ashmolean Shelves are perfectly sized to hold rows of books and both the Zola Chair and reading lamp are fully adjustable.

The Founders turned this small room into a study. To make it appear bigger, they painted the walls white and placed a large mirror adjacent to the window, which reflects the natural light beautifully. An untidy room will always feel cramped, so the three Founders included a desk with drawers, a simple wastebasket and matching stationery holders, all finished in our elegant faux shagreen.

Make yourself snug in a study fit for a laird. Books line the wall from ceiling to floor and muted tones of rust and dusky blue ensure the room remains a reflective space. Take your pick from an assortment of comfortable velvet chairs to curl up in while pouring through your favourite read.

Floor-to-ceiling bookcases line the walls of our barn study to make the most of the space, whilst infusing it with character. Introducing symmetry is a fail-safe way to create a sense of cohesion and elegance in a high, vaulted space, achieved here by using a pair of oversized column lamps on a scaled-up wooden desk.
